National Orphan Awareness Month, and the Spirit of Thanksgiving

When I was growing up, I’d visit my grandparents and very often meet other kids at their home. That’s because my grandparents were foster parents, who made a positive impact on the 200 kids they cared for over the course of many years.

November is National Orphan Awareness Month—a time to remember all young people who lack the support of loving families. TRG Marketing has been proud to support The World Orphan Fund, an organization based in Wisconsin but working around the globe.

As we near Thanksgiving, I am proud of how the people of TRG are making a difference. I think about Aileen Smith, who retired after 19 years with us and her leadership with AFS, which helps foreign students in the U.S. And Mike Shefky, who devotes countless hours coaching girls soccer and travel basketball. And Jacob Werre, who teaches high school catechism. And Julie Gaier, who is a virtual reader in a weekly book club for elementary and junior high school students.

I could reflect on every single person here but will pause to simply say how proud I am of our team. They serve clients really well—while also serving the broader community with both heart and mind.

We wish everyone out there the best for the upcoming holiday season.
