In early January, USO Wisconsin Executive Director Josh Sova, reached out to TRG Marketing with a request. Sova needed help spreading the word about a donation drive underway to support U.S. Coast Guard members and their families. They were working without pay during the partial federal government shutdown that started just before Christmas 2018.
TRG helped Sova publicize and advance the USO donation drive – which included gift cards and monetary donations – to Milwaukee area media. Sova appeared on radio, TV, in print and on website news outlets with specific coverage on local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC affiliates, Spectrum News, the Journal Sentinel and the Waukesha Freeman.
In one week, USO Wisconsin raised $16,000 from online donations, gift cards, the Milwaukee Brewers and a single $5,000 anonymous donation. When the drive ended, the collection reached $25,000 in money and gift cards for the Coast Guard Petty Officers Association of Western Lake Michigan. Sova says it provided much needed support for 350 families.
